Recent hate crimes across the country highlight the difficulties that persist politically and socially, especially for minority and marginalized communities. We Stand is a collection of signs inspired by women’s suffrage and civil rights era protest signs, and offers a simple and meaningful way to stand with others. The project provides free tools to a local community, Saint Louis, at a critical point in its and our nation’s history.
We Stand signs were funded by donations, produced by volunteers, and given away for free at locations and events throughout Saint Louis, including The Luminary Arts Publication Pop-up, Room13Delmar, Granite City Art and Design District Exhibition #10, Women-In-Action Saint Louis, March for Truth Saint Louis, 3301 Magnolia Music Room, Tower Grove Farmers’ Market, and others.
Special thanks to collaborator Jarrett Dawson, as well as everyone who fund-raised for the campaign, and to those who volunteered their time to assist, namely Savannah Bustillo and Finnegan Roy-Nyline.
