Dystopian novels influence the apocalyptic vision of Natural Disasters, in which hyperbolic disasters befall the Summerville district in Augusta, Georgia. At first glance the predominantly mixed-media printmaking works on paper appear colorful and light-hearted, but with more examination the pieces reveal volcanic eruptions, churning clouds, lifeless plants, and archetypes suggestive of death. Something is amiss in Summerville. The works in this series reflect on the complexities of disaster, memorilization, and sublimity.
